Patrick, I personally would appreciate it so much if you would include in your articles/blog a mention of the hell week aspect of the first month.

I think if I would have known it was coming, I wouldn’t have been so frightened and worried that I did the wrong thing.

I am, of course, referring to that which most people experience – that period of about 5 to 7 days when the body rebels, everything you eat wants to come back up, tired, grumpy, sleepy but can’t sleep, agitated, etc. etc. More needs to be mentioned about this.

I remember when I was about 2 weeks post op, an acquaintance of mine who had Gastric Bypass emailed me whether I had had the “hard time” yet. I had no idea what she was talking about, and told her that. And it still hurts me that she never responded and explained that some people may not feel well for a few days during the first month or so, that it is not anything to worry about, and here is what to look for, etc. I would have been so grateful.

My second request has to do with your quest for approval for surgery. I think putting that entire process in a public arena like this blog would mean so much to so many people who think that one refusal and they are done.

The very best of luck as you begin this wonderful part of your journey!

    Claire
